Any tear in the knee sounds rough. Meniscus tears -- in particular -- commonly range from minor to season-ending, depending on the specifics of the injury and the treatment.

There's no reason to distrust that Hobbs has a shot to be ready for the opener. We'll watch to see whether he can get back on that timeline.

Whenever he returns to the field, Green Bay's new slot CB carries intriguing IDP upside -- likely at minimal draft cost, or even as a waiver-wire option.

The fill-in plan will be interesting, especially because it could include converted WR Bo Melton. The Packers also might move Keisean Nixon back in from an outside CB slot.

Nixon spent most of his first two Green Bay seasons in the slot and opened there last year before moving outside.
