Callahan on Tuesday, when asked if Sneed might return this week: "There's some hope that's the case. Maybe we'll see where he's at tomorrow, I think, one more time. There's a chance that it happens pretty soon. I'm refraining from any definitive statements at the moment, but I'm hopeful that happens soon."

More from Sneed back in June: "Last year ... didn't go as planned, but it's time to come out and show the world what God's been instilling in me this entire year. I'm ready to get back on the field. That's my life. That's what I do for a living. I missed the whole year and I have to remind everybody who L'Jarius Sneed is."

The Titans traded a third-round pick for Sneed ahead of last season and are paying him about $19 million a year. So there's no question about his role when healthy.

The question, of course: When healthy?

No one can spin Sneed's extended absence this summer as anything but negative. That said, he's experienced enough to get back into the flow with limited practice time. And he plays a position that relies primarily on one-to-one reactions.

In short, Sneed can effectively play his outside corner spot even without a full summer of prep. But we have no idea how close he actually is to full strength. We'll see on that front.

A lesser version of Sneed on the field might actually boost his fantasy upside, though. Opponent offenses would gladly target WRs running against lackluster coverage. And more targets would increase the tackle and pass-breakup opportunities for Sneed.

Best of all, Sneed's likely to stick around to the very end of your IDP drafts -- and likely go undrafted most of the time.

He's a potential value for CB-required slots and has a shot to return to playability in DB slots. I'll keep tracking his return.
