Travon Walker Wrist Injury Sounds Serious

        Travon Walker Headshot

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Jaguars Edge Travon Walker will be meeting with a specialist to get more details about the wrist injury that knocked him out of Sunday's win over the 49ers.

        What They're Saying

Fowler: "The injury is not considered season-ending for the former No. 1 overall pick."

So here's what we know: Probably not season-ending is the optimistic view on Walker, who's meeting with a wrist specialist. And the team apparently hasn't given an outlook as of midday Monday.

That sounds like we should expect Walker to miss some time. Let's hope we get more details ahead of this week's IDP waiver runs. But it's worth noting that Jacksonville has three more games before the bye.

If the Jaguars avoid placing Walker on IR, it might just mean they want the chance to get him back for a Week 9 visit to the Raiders. If he were to land on IR, Walker would be out at least through that game.

If the team does put Walker on IR in spite of that schedule, then we might very well be looking at more than four games missed.

If Walker's on your IDP roster, you should head into this week expecting to miss him for at least Week 5. I'll have the IDP waiver wire article posted before noon ET Tuesday to help with pickup options.

        Other Winners & Losers

Emmanuel Ogbah and Dennis Gardeck got playing-time boosts in Walker's absence Sunday.

Ogbah jumped from the 36-40% range across his first three games to 65% snap share at San Francisco. That put him second behind Josh Hines-Allen among Jacksonville edge players. Ogbah notched his first QB hit of the year but otherwise has posted just 2 assists for the year.

Gardeck played a season-high 45.5% snap share after ranging from 10% to 33.3% over the first three weeks. Gardeck has 9 tackles, including 8 solos and 1 tackle for loss on the year.

Dawaune Smoot -- a bigger inside-outside player -- could factor more into the edge picture while Walker's out as well. He's the best bet among the replacements for numbers, but none of the three is likely to prove helpful for most IDP leagues.
