Kimani Vidal Controls Backfield Again, But Much More Quietly

Chargers RB Kimani Vidal dominated backfield work for the second straight week in Sunday's loss to the Colts but posted weak fantasy results this time around. He carried nine times for just 20 yards (2.2 per rush) and caught four of five targets for 15 yards (3.8 per catch). Hassan Haskins logged just one carry for 3 yards and 2 catches for 2 yards (on two targets).

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Vidal nearly doubled Haskins in playing time, getting 49 of 76 offensive snaps to Haskins' 25. He ran a route on 52.5% of Justin Herbert's 61 dropbacks, leading Haskins 32-19 in that category, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Chargers never led in Sunday's game and trailed by 10+ from early in the second quarter, which hurt the available RB opportunities. But the run game was also going nowhere from the start.

Vidal's five first-half carries went for:

        • 1 yard
        • no gain
        • minus-2
        • 3 yards
        • 5 yards

His second half started with another pair of 5-yard runs. But the Chargers trailed by 20 at that point.

The Colts entered Sunday ranked a mere 21st in run-defense DVOA, though they have been a negative RB-scoring matchup by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.

Vidal should find a more positive game script in Week 8 against the Vikings, who have played the pass tougher than the run. Sunday's loss to the Eagles marked the first time this year that Minnesota allowed 200 passing yards.

After that comes an even better matchup -- both for rushing and overall defense -- against the Titans.

So although we might not see another Vidal game as helpful as his Week 6 vs. Miami, expect him to contend for RB2 usage the next two weeks.
