Eagles Get Jaelan Phillips to Enhance the Pass Rush

The Eagles are trading 2026 third-round pick to the Dolphins for Edge Jaelan Phillips, according to multiple reports. This is the third edge player Philadelphia has added since the start of the season, but Phillips should make a much bigger impact than Za'Darius Smith (who has since retired) or Brandon Graham (who recently came out of retirement).

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Despite coming off a 2024 ACL tear that followed a 2023 Achilles' tear, Phillips has returned to normal playing time. He appeared in 73% of Miami's defensive snaps through nine games and now arrives to an Eagles team coming off its Week 9 bye.

(That means Phillips gets no bye week this year.)

Phillips has boosted his production in recent weeks, too. After going without a QB hit across the first four games, Phillips has delivered at least one in each of his past five outings. That span has included all three of his sacks for the year and a pair of 2-hit games.

Phillips should quickly (immediately?) see full playing time for an Eagles defense averaging just 2 sacks per game for the season.

He might not reach a snap share quite as high as he played in Miami. Jalyx Hunt leads Philly edge players so far this year at 65.6%. But cutting down his playing time a bit could also help Phillips stay healthy and efficient over the second half.

He certainly doesn't lose any IDP appeal for this move.

Miami, meanwhile, seems more likely to spread Phillips' vacated playing time across multiple players rather than have any single edge get a large boost.

Bradley Chubb remains a rumored trade candidate. Chop Robinson's small for the position and coming off a concussion in the loss to the Ravens. Matt Judon's 33 and has just 1 QB hit (no sacks) through eight games.
