Bears Edge Dayo Odeyingbo will miss the rest of the season after tearing his right Achilles' tendon in Sunday's win over the Bengals. It's the second career tear for Odeyingbo, who suffered the same injury while training for the Senior Bowl back in 2021. I don't know whether that injury occurred to the same leg, though, because most reporters don't seem to realize that nearly all players actually have two legs.
What They're Saying
Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic: "The sack production hasn't been there ... but head coach Ben Johnson said he had been impressed with the interior rush Odeyingbo was providing on passing downs. That has helped the Bears form one of the league's best third-down defenses."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Odeyingbo signed for big money in free agency, but he has just 1 sack and 4 QB hits through eight games with Chicago. And the sack, two of those hits, and his lone pass deflection all came in the season opener.
So the loss doesn't mean much for IDP rosters. But it certainly doesn't help a Bears D that's already been weak and also lost second-round rookie DL Shemar Turner to an ACL tear recently.
We'll see whether Chicago makes a move for help ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. No in-house fill-in candidate looks interesting for fantasy purposes.
