Niners LB Tatum Bethune suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday that they expect Bethune to miss multiple weeks but that he probably won't hit IR because of the Week 14 bye.
Curtis Robinson is expected to step into Bethune's lineup spot. We'll see if that means he'll wear the green dot (relaying defensive play calls).
Robinson's the third man in at the spot -- originally Fred Warner's -- but he has been with the 49ers since 2021. (And hey, he went to Stanford. So probably at least decently bright.)
Robinson tallied 12 tackles in 54 snaps (68%) after stepping in for Bethune against Arizona. He's worth a look on waivers in tackle-friendly IDP leagues of at least moderate depth this week.
Dee Winters has maintained the other full-time LB role throughout the season and gains tackle upside with the depth-chart depletion next to him.
Week 12 opponent Carolina arrives as a negative scoring matchup for LBs on the season but has supported six lines of 10+ tackles for the position.
