Christian Watson Leads Routes for Third Straight Game

WR Christian Watson led Green Bay's limited receiving effort in Sunday's win over the Vikings. He posted team highs in targets (seven), receptions (5), and receiving yards (49) on a day that found the Packers going just 15-of-22 passing for 146 yards. Watson accounted for 33.3% of QB Jordan Love's pass attempts, 35.7% of his completions, and 35.3% of his yardage. WR Dontayvion Wicks followed with four targets, while WR Romeo Doubs became the only other Packer to draw more than two looks. No one besides Watson exceeded 2 receptions.

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

This marked the third straight game in which Watson led the Packers in pass routes.

The 22 routes actually marked a season low for the wideout, but blame Green Bay's low-volume approach. Watson's 88% route participation marked a season high after three straight games in the 72-80% range.

Interestingly, Doubs slipped behind Wicks in that category against Minnesota. Wicks ran 20 routes to Doubs' 18 -- and edged him 4-3 in targets -- despite playing 16 fewer snaps overall (48-32).

All three receivers spent at least two of last week's practices limited. Watson and Doubs each put in a full Friday, though, and carried no designation on the final injury report. Wicks remained limited and entered Sunday questionable.

WR Jayden Reed also returned to practice Friday for the first time since breaking a collarbone in Week 2. If he's ready to play against Detroit this Thursday, then Wicks would likely take the biggest hit. He has spent a larger share of his time than Watson or Doubs in the slot, Reed's primary role.

        Watson or Doubs Going Forward?

The role growth for Watson plus a slight decrease for Doubs in playing time the past two weeks makes the former the better fantasy bet going forward -- at least until/unless something changes.

Doubs has finished two of his past three games with 2 receptions or fewer. But he also posted a decent 4-53 receiving line on eight targets in between and set season highs in targets, catches, and yards in Week 9.

The volume dip of the past two weeks and Love playing through a left shoulder injury threaten the overall upside of the Green Bay passing game.
