Seth McGowan Headshot

Colts beat writer James Boyd believes rookie RB Seth McGowan is the leading candidate for the No. 2 role "thanks to his bruising running style and soft hands out of the backfield."

What They're Saying

Boyd writes (via The Athletic) that McGowan "could come in handy in keeping [Jonathan] Taylor fresh," adding that "he’ll need to prove himself in pass protection to carve out a consistent role..."

Meanwhile, another backup candidate -- DJ Giddens -- has missed practice time with a hamstring injury. He's also struggled with drops in camp, according to Boyd.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Not Yet a Late-Round Option

McGown fell to Round 7 of the 2026 draft after a long college career that took him through four different schools. Still, he brings ideal size at 6'0, 223 pounds. He also tallied an excellent 9.35 Relative Athletic Score, boosted by a huge 42.5-inch vertical.

There’s not enough here yet to make McGowan a redraft target. But the new Colt is worth tracking if he establishes himself as Indy’s No. 2 RB.
