Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Giants had RB Devontae Booker in for a workout Friday. There's no report of an impending signing. We'd be a little surprised, though, if the team heads into the season with Matt Brieda and the current cast of nobodys behind Saquon Barkley.
The Giants are releasing RB Devontae Booker, saving ~$2.1 million in cap space. Booker, almost 30, played 16 games last year and played well en route to 861 total yards. He underwent surgery for a thumb issue that dogged him late in the year but will be “good to go” for 2022, per beat writer Pat Leonard. The versatile Booker will likely battle for a #2 job elsewhere.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is active for tonight's game against the Bucs. He was limited in practice all week, and it's unclear how big a role he's ready for in his first action since Week 5. But if you were waiting on Barkley, get him into fantasy lineups. RB Devontae Booker (hip) is also active for the G-Men.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is expected to play Monday night against the Bucs, barring a setback. Barkley is officially questionable, so we'll confirm his status when inactives come out Monday evening. But it sounds like you'll be in luck if you've been waiting for Barkley in your Week 11 fantasy football lineup.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Bucs. He was limited in all 3 practices this week. All signs point to Barkley returning for this one, but it's evidently not a lock. RB Devontae Booker (hip) is also listed as questionable.
Giants RB Devontae Booker suffered a hip injury in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Raiders and is officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. He’ll get a Week 10 bye and hopefully be ready to go come Week 11. Devontae Booker gets another start this weekend and is a solid RB2 in fantasy lineups.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley has tested positive for COVID, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Barkley has been vaccinated, so he could still play Sunday against the Raiders if he remains symptom-free and tests negative twice before then. If he passes there, Barkley seems to be on track to return from his ankle sprain. If Barkley's out again, Devontae Booker would retain the starting gig.
The Giants have officially ruled RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) out for Monday night's game against the Chiefs. That comes as no surprise, with Barkley yet to return to practice. It locks in Devontae Booker as a solid RB2 for PPR lineups.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) missed practice again on Friday. He's not going to play vs. the Chiefs of Monday night, giving RB Devontae Booker another start.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) has an "outside chance" to return for next weekend's game vs. the Chiefs. Barkley will "likely" be back for Week 9's game vs. the Raiders, Rapoport adds. It's not a surprise after Barkley remained sidelined in practice all week. We'll see if he gets back on the field this coming week, but fantasy owners shouldn't plan on having him in Week 8 lineups.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. He didn't practice all week, so a Week 8 return is far from a lock. Devontae Booker gets another game as lead back on Sunday and is a volume-based RB2 in fantasy lineups.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Rams. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 7. Devontae Booker should dominate backfield work this weekend and is a volume-based RB2 in fantasy lineups.
Giants QB Daniel Jones (concussion) will be a full participant in Friday's practice and "appears" on track to start Sunday's game vs. the Rams, HC Joe Judge said Friday morning. Jones still needs to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to play this weekend, but it sounds like that's expected to happen. Jones is a borderline QB1 for Week 6 and an upgrade over QB Mike Glennon for all of New York's skill-position players.
The "estimate" for Giants RB Saquon Barkley's timetable for return from his sprained ankle is 2-4 weeks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Barkley is scheduled for more tests on that ankle on Monday. It's worth noting that the Giants have a Week 10 bye, so if Barkley ends up on the long end of that timetable, we might not see him again until Week 11.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley is believed to have a low-ankle sprain and will "likely" miss next weekend's game vs. the Rams, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He’ll have more tests, but he’s best characterized as week-to-week," Rapoport adds. "A fast healer, Barkley will work to miss only one week." We'll look for a more concrete timetable for Barkley's return. Devontae Booker operated as New York's clear lead back after Barkley exited today's game, handling 19 of the 20 RB opportunities.
Giants RB Devontae Booker is a surprise healthy scratch for today's game vs. the Falcons. Booker had been serving as New York's #2 RB. That job will now fall to rookie Gary Brightwell. Booker's absence can only be good news for RB Saquon Barkley's workload.
The Giants released RB Corey Clement. It looked like he might be pushing for the #2 RB role early in camp, but Clement (predictably) faded. Devontae Booker is locked in as Saquon Barkley's handcuff. Rookie RB Gary Brightwell is currently the #3.
Giants RB Corey Clement has outplayed RB Devontae Booker in camp so far, according to insider Zack Rosenblatt. "Booker is still the top backup," Rosenblatt concedes. "But he’s not necessarily performing like it." The Giants gave Booker a 2-year, $5.5 million deal in free agency vs. Clement's 1-year deal worth a little less than a million. So the team was likely banking on Booker winning the backup job behind RB Saquon Barkley. But that contract isn't big enough to guarantee him anything. We'll continue to monitor this situation, but there's no strong handcuff to Barkley right now.
