Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Chargers have placed Edge Joey Bosa on IR for the foot injury that knocked him out of Sunday's game. That will keep Bosa out until at least Week 16, and he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups in his first game back. We've already seen an active Bosa play less than 50% of the snaps in three other games before leaving Week 11 early. That all means you can go ahead and drop Bosa for another option in your redraft IDP league. The 28-year-old is probably still worth holding in dynasty ... but he's running out of value in that format as well.
The Bears have agreed to send EDGE Khalil Mack to the Chargers for 2nd- and 6th-round picks in the 2023 draft. Mack has 3 years left on the deal he signed with Chicago, which would run through his age-33 season. Mack missed 10 games last season with a foot injury that required surgery. He'll need to pass a physical for this trade to go through, so there should be no concern for the issue if it happens. The trade will reunite Mack with Chargers HC Brandon Staley, who served as LBs coach in Chicago before taking the DC post with the Rams in 2020. It will also position him opposite Joey Bosa in what will be 1 of the NFL's toughest pass rushes. Expect the Chargers' D to land high in our 2022 fantasy football rankings. Mack -- after posting 6 sacks in just 7 games last season -- should remain a good option in sack/pressure-friendly IDP leagues. As for Chicago, Trevis Gipson looks like the top incumbent candidate to replace Mack. Gipson got 9 starts in his 2nd season -- with Mack out -- and tallied 7 sacks.
Bears EDGE Khalil Mack needs foot surgery and will miss the rest of the season. He and the team had hoped that rest would allow him to recover enough to return, but that proved to not be the case. We'll see about Mack's recovery heading into 2022. Trevis Gipson looks like he'll continue as the primary guy opposite Robert Quinn. He has 0 QB hits in elevated playing time over the past 3 contests. Chicago also placed ILB Danny Trevathan (knee) back on IR, which he spent a stint on earlier this year. That re-opens the spot for Alec Ogletree next to Roquan Smith. For this week, the Bears have ruled DL Akiem Hicks (ankle) out for this week's game against the Chargers. S Eddie Jackson (hamstring) is questionable. He put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday's workout.
The Bears have ruled EDGE Khalil Mack (foot) out for Monday night's game against the Steelers, the 2nd straight game he will have missed. LB Alec Ogletree (knee) is questionable and S Eddie Jackson (hamstring) is doubtful. Ogletree missed practice all week and doesn't look like a good bet. If he sits, Danny Trevathan would get the start in his place. Jackson's expected absence makes DeAndre Houston-Carson a good IDP option.
The Bears have officially ruled OLB Khalil Mack out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, as expected. HC Matt Nagy said Friday that they haven't decided yet whether to place Mack on IR to give his ailing foot time to heal. DE Akiem Hicks (groin) and S Tashaun Gipson (hip) are questionable.
The Bears don't expect EDGE Khalil Mack to play Sunday against the 49ers. Mack has been dealing with a foot injury since at least Week 4. He has been playing through it for normal snap shares and was working on a 5-game sack streak before failing to notch 1 against the Bucs last Sunday. Ian Rapoport reports that Mack might land on IR. We'll see whether it comes to that. For now, make alternate Week 8 IDP plans. We'll also see whether the Bears get EDGE Robert Quinn back from the COVID list this week.
Bears OLB Khalil Mack (foot) is active for today's game against the Buccaneers. DL Bilal Nichols (knee) and CB Duke Shelley (ankle) are as well.
Bears OLB Khalil Mack (foot) is questionable for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. He has made a habit of playing through questionable tags, so it seems unwise to bet against Mack. The Buccaneers present 1 of the league's worst sack matchups, though. So it's not a great spot for an active Mack. Also questionable are DL Akiem Hicks (groin), DL Bilal Nichols (knee) and CB Duke Shelley (ankle). Chicago has ruled out S Tashaun Gipson. Deon Bush, who replaced an injured Gipson earlier this season, is on IR. So it'll be DeAndre Houston-Carson starting in Gipson's place.
Bears OLB Khalil Mack (foot) is active for today's game against the Packers. He missed practice all week, so there's a chance he's limited vs. his usual performance level. But he's available for IDP lineups. DL Akiem Hicks (groin) and CB Duke Shelley (ankle) are active as well after arriving questionable.
