Luther Burden's Targets Rise, Playing Time Doesn't

Luther Burden's Targets Rise, Playing Time Doesn't

Rookie WR Luther Burden III made a team-high 4 receptions on a modest passing day for the Bears against Philadelphia. He tied WR Rome Odunze and TE Colston Loveland for the team lead with six targets and took his 4 catches for 33 yards. Loveland and TE Cole Kmet were the only other Bears to catch more than two balls.

The Chicago Bears scored 31 points on offense against the Pittsburgh Steelers with three rookies overtaking the veterans in front of them. RB Kyle Monangai went 12-48-1 on the ground outperforming D’Andre Swift who only went 8-15-0. TE Colston Loveland went 4-49-1 compared to Cole Kmet’s 1-3-0. Finally, WR Luther Burden III surpassed Olamide Zaccheaus again this week with Burden going 3-46-0 on 5 targets while Zaccheaus caught his lone target for 6 yards.

Sunday might have finally brought the change we've been waiting for in the Chicago offense, even if it wasn't obvious in the receiving numbers. Rookie WR Luther Burden supplied an uneventful 3 receptions for 27 yards among five targets. But that tied him for second on the team in targets and catches for the game. And Burden finished well ahead of Olamide Zaccheaus in usage for the first time all season.
