Amari Cooper WR BUF

Cooper dominates receiving despite drop

Cooper dominates receiving despite drop

Browns WR Amari Cooper drew a target on 32.4% of QB Jacoby Brissett's dropbacks in Sunday's OT win over the Buccaneers, turning his 12 looks into 7 catches for 94 yards. Cooper could have had even more but dropped a long pass late in regulation. He made up for that with a 46-yard reception to set up the game-winning TD run in OT. For the game, Cooper accounted for 30.4% of Browns receptions and 44.8% of receiving yards. WR David Bell ranked 2nd among wideouts with 4 catches for 23 yards on 6 targets. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones contributed just 2 receptions for 16 yards among 4 targets. WR Anthony Schwartz added 1 catch but ran for a 31-yard TD on a 1st-quarter reverse. Browns receivers should have a new QB next time out, with Deshaun Watson eligible to return from suspension in Week 13.

WR Donovan Peoples-Jones led the Browns in targets (11), receptions (6) and receiving yards (60) in Sunday's win over the Panthers. He beat WR Amari Cooper by 5 targets, while RB Kareem Hunt was the only other Cleveland player to catch more than 3 balls or crack 20 receiving yards. Cooper managed just a 3-17 receiving line on his 6 looks. Anthony Schwartz drew the only other 2 targets among WRs.

Browns WR David Bell got some reps with the 1st-team offense in OTAs, according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson. Amari Cooper is locked in as Cleveland's #1 WR, and it sounds like Bell, Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz are competing for the next 3 spots on the depth chart. Bell has drawn positive reviews so far from both coaches and beat writers. Consider him the favorite for primary slot duties this season, making the rookie an intriguing late-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Browns WR Anthony Schwartz said he's not yet 100% recovered from lingering injuries. Schwartz missed a chunk of training camp with a hamstring issue — then sat out 3 games with a concussion. “It's not really soft-tissue stuff. It's a little bit more than that,” he said via the Akron Beacon Journal. “[I’m] mainly just getting my health back, trying to get everything from the season out of me, so I'm able to train fully and able to not have any setbacks. I really want to get my speed back to where I know it can be and being able to keep that speed up throughout the season and being able to stay healthy throughout the season, so I can contribute — be one of the top guys on the team.” Schwartz’s speed is indeed his best trait — he blazed a 4.27 forty-time at Auburn’s Pro Day. A 2021 3rd-round pick, the 6’0, 186-pounder carries some sleeper appeal in deep dynasty formats.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Ravens after getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. DPJ isn’t a fantasy option at less than 100%. WR Anthony Schwartz (concussion) has been ruled out.
