Bottom Line

Durability remained an issue for Goedert in 2023.

He’s back healthy for the summer, but questions remain surrounding his fantasy upside.

Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith have limited the scoring ceiling. This offseason, Philadelphia added another TD threat in Saquon Barkley.

Another 80+ targets are in play – plenty to provide a low-end TE1 floor. Just consider a finish beyond there a bonus.

What We Learned Last Year

  • Goedert’s sat out eight games over the past two seasons.
    • He missed time with a fractured shoulder in '22 and a fractured forearm in '23.
  • The Eagles were not a pass-heavy offense, finishing 23rd in pass rate.
  • A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith stayed healthy, further limiting Goedert’s fantasy appeal.
  • In 14 games, the 29-year-old ranked 12th in PPR points per game.
    • Goedert finished as a top-10 TE four times.
    • He slotted 20th or worse in seven weeks.
  • Goedert posted career lows in yards per catch (9.7), yards after catch per reception (5.2), and yards per route run (1.30).
  • He continued to underwhelm as a TD scorer with 3.
    • Jalen Hurts’ goal line rushing certainly played a role.
    • Goedert managed only 3 targets inside the 10 yard-line. 25 TEs beat that mark.

What to Expect in 2024

  • Philly returns Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith.
  • The Eagles are breaking in a new OC in Kellen Moore.
    • He spent last season as the Chargers’ play-caller.
    • They ranked 18th in total yards and 21st in points, although several key injuries hamstrung the offense.
    • TEs combined for a 21.7% target share, a mid-pack finish.
    • Moore’s presence should produce a bit more passing, but don’t expect a pass-happy attack.
  • C.J. Uzomah projects as Philly's TE2. His arrival doesn't impact Goedert's fantasy outlook.
  • Goedert’s TD upside remains limited by Hurts, Brown, and Smith.
    • Philly also invested in free agent Saquon Barkley, the owner of 47 career TDs.

DeVonta Smith, WR PHI

DeVonta Smith Suffers Concussion

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith left in the fourth quarter of the game at New Orleans with a concussion. That obviously means he'll miss the rest of the game and will then need to pass through the league protocol before returning.

The Eagles have downgraded WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) to out for Monday night's game against the Falcons. Brown, of course, has been dealing with an injury that popped up during the practice week. His absence elevates Jahan Dotson to the No. 2 WR spot and makes him a decent fill-in option. TE Dallas Goedert also could benefit on the target-share front.

The Eagles will be ruling WR A.J. Brown (knee) out for Monday night’s game against the Buccaneers. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Brown "wants to fully heal as much as he can and give it a go next week." Philly would obviously need to win at Tampa to make that second game happen. Brown’s absence leaves targets available for WR DeVonta Smith and TE Dallas Goedert. WR Julio Jones gains intrigue as a DFS play. QB Jalen Hurts loses upside without his top wideout (and is dealing with his own finger injury). Brown makes for a weak play across playoff fantasy contests.

Update: Brown missed practice again on Saturday and has officially been ruled out.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Cowboys. We’ll look for reports on Philadelphia’s plans for Goedert in his first game since Week 9, but we’re tentatively expecting him to play a full slate of snaps. See where Goedert lands in the Week 14 TE Rankings.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (forearm) confirmed in a Tuesday radio appearance that he expects to return for Sunday night's showdown with the Cowboys. “It’s been healing really well," Goedert said of his broken forearm. “It’s probably feeling like 85-90 percent of the way there. Feeling really good back to normal. ... I’m able to do everything I need to do in my position group, so I’m planning on going down to Dallas and playing every snap that they allow me to. Hopefully I don’t have a limit on my snaps. I know when I came back last year I didn’t, so hopefully it’s kinda the same thing.” We'll look for further updates on Philadelphia's plan for Goedert in his first action since Week 9. He'll come with a bit more risk in fantasy than usual this week, but Goedert will belong in plenty of starting lineups. See where he currently sits in the Week 14 TE Rankings.
