Dameon Pierce's Preseason Player AnalysisJoe Mixon's Ankle Injury "Not Long Term"
Texans insider Aaron Wilson reports that RB Joe Mixon's ankle injury is "not considered long term or serious." Mixon briefly returned to Sunday night's game vs. the Bears after spraining the ankle but eventually gave way again to RB Cam Akers. It sounds like Mixon won't miss a ton of time, but his status for Week 3's meeting with the Vikings is uncertain. Wilson also reports that RB Dameon Pierce is "making fast progress" from his hamstring injury. If neither guy is available this weekend, Akers would be in for a significant workload. Houston also has RB Dare Ogunbowale on the active roster, but he's a passing-down specialist.
Joe Mixon Sitting with Hamstring Trouble
Texans RB Joe Mixon has been out of practice since early last week with a hamstring issue. HC DeMeco Ryans downplayed the injury when initially speaking about it on July 23. But Mixon remained out when the team took the field Monday morning, according to Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle.

Dameon Pierce questionable, likely to play Week 12
Texans RB Dameon Pierce (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. He was a full-go in practice all week, so we’re fully expecting him to play. OC Bobby Slowik confirmed earlier this week that Pierce and RB Devin Singletary will go back to sharing the workload. Singletary deserves to lead the backfield after his strong play the past two weeks, but he’s just a RB3 in fantasy lineups assuming Pierce plays on Sunday.
Dameon Pierce puts in full practice Wednesday
Texans RB Dameon Pierce (ankle) was a full-go in Wednesday's practice. He's on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Jaguars. It's tough to imagine Pierce being reinstalled as lead back considering how awesome RB Devin Singletary has been the past two weeks. But Pierce will certainly cut into Singletary's workload.
