Montez Sweat DE CHI

Montez Sweat Questionable, Expected to Play

Montez Sweat Questionable, Expected to Play

Bears Edge Montez Sweat is questionable for Sunday's opener against the Titans with a toe injury. He finished the week with a full practice, though, after limited workouts Wednesday and Thursday. HC Matt Eberflus called the outlook for Sweat "good," though, according to Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Chicago. The Bears have also deemed Edge Darrell Taylor (foot) and DT Demarcus Walker (groin) questionable.

Seahawks Edge Uchenna Nwosu needs season-ending surgery after tearing a pectoral muscle in Sunday's win over the Cardinals, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. That will leave Seattle without its lead edge player. Boye Mafe and Darrell Taylor finished Sunday's game as the top two. Mafe played a season-high 79% of the snaps and notched a sack for the fourth straight game. Taylor tallied his first 1.5 sacks of the season against the Cardinals. His 59% snap share marked an uptick vs. the week before but not a season high in either share or total snaps. Mafe -- a second-round pick in 2022 -- is the much better IDP bet between them the rest of the way. We'll see what else changes up front for the Seahawks. Nwosu remains signed through 2026, with dead-cap penalties that should keep him with the team at least through 2025.

Seahawks DE Darrell Taylor is inactive for tonight's game against the Saints. He was a game-time decision with the neck injury that had him leaving last Sunday night's game in Pittsburgh on a stretcher. Taylor seems like he should make it back for Seattle's Week 8 contest.

Seahawks DE Darrell Taylor is officially questionable for Monday night’s game against the Saints with the neck injury that found him leaving Week 6 on a stretcher. Here’s what HC Pete Carroll had to say Saturday about Taylor’s outlook: “Let's just wait until we get all the way gametime and see if everything works out OK. I think he's doing really well, he's anxious to play and excited about that. I'll be surprised if he doesn't, but we'll just make sure.” Having the last kickoff of the week makes it tough to wait on a game-time decision. Let’s hope we get some indication Sunday on how Taylor’s neck responded to Saturday’s largest workload of the week.

Seahawks DE Darrell Taylor missed practice Friday with his neck issue. HC Pete Carroll said he expects Taylor to play Monday night against the Saints, though, according to Brent Stecker of ESPN Seattle. We'll check Taylor's status after Saturday's practice.
