Gus Edwards Scores Twice In Week 16 Win

Gus Edwards Scores Twice In Week 16 Win

Chargers RB Gus Edwards punched in two TDs in Thursday night's win over the Broncos. He plunged in a one-yard score in the first quarter and then made a nice cutback to hit pay dirt from five yards out in the third quarter. Edwards finished the night with 68 yards on 14 carries, with the majority of that production coming on a 43-yarder in the fourth quarter. That was Edwards' longest run since 2019.

Gus Edwards led Chargers RBs in carries (10) and rushing yards (36) and claimed the team's only rushing score in Sunday night's loss to the Chiefs. But rookie RB Kimani Vidal beat him in playing time. Vidal played 32 snaps to Edwards' 26, including a 17-10 edge in pass routes, according to Pro Football Focus.

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) has been placed on IR. Dobbins is dealing with an MCL sprain and will now miss at least the next four games. He'll be eligible to return for Week 17's meeting vs. the Patriots. You could keep Dobbins stashed for that one, but he's droppable if you're in a pinch. Dobbins' absence should leave RB Gus Edwards as Los Angeles' lead ball carrier, but we're expecting him to cede most passing-down snaps to RBs Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal.

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons. We don’t have a timetable for his return, but it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he misses multiple games. Dobbins’ absence figures to leave Gus Edwards as Los Angeles’ lead runner this weekend, but he’ll cede passing-down work to RBs Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal.

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins will miss time with a knee sprain he suffered in Monday night's loss to the Ravens, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He’s out this week against the Falcons and up in the air after that," Rapoport adds. We'll look for more details on Dobbins' injury and timeline for return, but it sounds like there's a chance he misses multiple games. We'd try to keep Dobbins stashed on fantasy benches for now. His absence leaves RB Gus Edwards as the Chargers' lead runner vs. Atlanta this weekend. We're expecting RB Hassan Haskins to mix in on early downs and RB Kimani Vidal to handle most of the passing downs.
