Kamari Lassiter CB HOU

10:36am EDT 7/2/24

Kamari Lassiter Might Start Right Away

Kamari Lassiter Might Start Right Away

Texans Wire's Cole Thompson reports that second-round rookie CB Kamari Lassiter "was the talk of OTAs." Thompson says the team drafted Lassiter -- 42nd overall, Houston's first pick of the draft -- with hopes he'd compete for the nickel CB role. But Lassiter "held his own working first-team reps on the boundary" against a strong group of Texans WRs. If Lassiter continues his strong play through training camp, he could compete for the starting gig opposite Derek Stingley Jr. His primary competition for that spot will be Jeff Okudah, a former first-round pick of the Lions who's now with his third team. Okudah signed a one-year, $4.75 million deal with the Texans this offseason.

The Falcons have ruled LB Nate Landman (knee) out for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Andre Smith looks like the next guy up, but we wouldn't go looking for a down-the-roster Atlanta LB in any format at this point in the fantasy season. Atlanta also ruled out DT David Onyemata (ankle). Onyemata and Landman hold the two best Pro Football Focus run-defense grades among Falcons front-seven players this season. So their absences can only help the matchup for Bucs RB Rachaad White. CB A.J. Terrell (concussion) and CB Jeff Okudah (ankle) are questionable for the game.

Lions CB Jeff Okudah (illness) is active for today's game against the Vikings. Use him as planned in IDP lineups.

Lions CB Jeff Okudah is questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. He missed Wednesday and Thursday with an illness this week before putting in a limited Friday workout. Okudah played a key role in Detroit limiting Vikings WR Justin Jefferson in their 1st meeting this season. His presence Sunday shouldn't affect whether you're playing Jefferson in fantasy football lineups, but Okudah matters for the quality of Detroit's defense overall. He also could be in for plenty of opportunities for IDP upside, if active.

The Lions fear CB Jeff Okudah suffered an Achilles' tendon tear in Sunday's loss to the 49ers. He'll have an MRI Monday to confirm the diagnosis. Losing Okudah would leave a defense that allowed 442 yards to San Francisco -- 311 passing -- without its top cover man. Okudah was the #3 overall pick in the 2020 draft but has dealt with multiple injuries in his young career.
