Saints Rule Alvin Kamara Out vs. Packers

Saints Rule Alvin Kamara Out vs. Packers

The Saints have ruled RB Alvin Kamara out for Monday night's game against the Packers because of his groin injury. That comes as no surprise and aligns with what HC Darren Rizzi indicated earlier this week.

Interim HC Darren Rizzi commented that RB Alvin Kamara's groin injury is more serious than they initially thought. He also said that it doesn't look good for Kamara to return this week. If Kamara can't go, RB Kendre Miller will likely be the lead back for the Saints against the Packers on Monday Night Football.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that, while Kamara is still being evaluated, his injury could be season-ending.

The Saints signed RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire to the practice squad. It could be a sign that they're expecting to be without RB Alvin Kamara (groin) for Monday night's game vs. the Packers. Edwards-Helaire did not touch the ball for the Chiefs this season after averaging just 3.2 yards per carry last year. He won't be a fantasy factor the rest of this season. RB Kendre Miller remains a good bet to control backfield work if Kamara misses time.

Saints RB Alvin Kamara is considered "day-to-day" with the groin injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Commanders, according to insider Nick Underhill. Kamara had an MRI after the game, which evidently revealed a relatively minor injury. He has an extra day to get ready for next Monday night's game vs. the Packers. We'll track his status throughout the week. Kamara's absence would leave Kendre Miller as New Orleans' lead back.

Saints RB Alvin kamara left early in the fourth quarter with a groin injury Sunday. But he and Kendre Miller each carried five times before that. Miller added another four attempts after Kamara left to finish with 46 yards on 9 carries. He drew 1 target that fell incomplete. Kamara rushed five times for 12 yards before leaving and tallied a 4-58-1 receiving line.
