Darren Waller Back For Another Year

TE Darren Waller has inked a one-year deal with the Panthers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Waller came out of retirement last year and put together nine efficient games for the Dolphins. He turns 34 in September but immediately becomes the favorite to lead a weak Panthers TE group.

You'd be forgiven if you didn't even realize that the Panthers have been playing TEs each year. The team hasn't ranked higher than 27th in total tight end PPR points since 2019. That was Greg Olsen's last year with the team; he finished 13th among TEs in total PPR points and 17th in points per game. So will any Carolina TE reach fantasy relevance this year? If so, The Athletic's Joe Person thinks Mitchell Evans has the best chance.

With Panthers TE Ja’Tavion Sanders missing the game against the Patriots with a high-ankle sprain, TE Tommy Tremble was able to shine. He secured a 5-42-1 stat line tying for a team-high eight targets. Tremble only played 46.8% of snaps through the first three weeks, but played 89% of snaps with Bryce Young in this game.

Panthers TE Ja’Tavion Sanders (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Patriots. He’s expected to miss multiple weeks with a high-ankle sprain. Tommy Tremble figures to step in as Carolina’s lead TE, but rookie TE Mitchell Evans will also likely be involved. Avoid the situation in Week 4 fantasy lineups.

Panthers TE Ja'Tavion Sanders is expected to miss "multiple weeks" with a high-ankle sprain suffered in the Week 3 win over the Falcons, according to The Athletic's Joe Person. Sanders has been running as Carolina's lead TE, tallying 11 catches for 92 scoreless yards through three games. He's garnered just 12.3% of the team's targets, though, and is now only worth keeping stashed in the deepest of fantasy leagues. Sanders' absence will leave the Panthers' TE room to Tommy Tremble and rookie Mitchell Evans. Neither is worth adding off waiver wires right now.

        1. 1 Tommy Tremble CAR TE
        2. 2 Ja'Tavion Sanders CAR TE
