J.K. Dobbins Gets Fewer Touches but More Playing Time

        J.K. Dobbins Headshot

A quick check of the Week 3 game stats might make you think that Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins saw his role decrease. He dipped to 11 carries after logging 16 and 14 in the first two contests, and totaled just 12 touches. But the veteran RB actually saw his largest playing-time share to date as Denver left Tyler Badie out of the rotation.

        What They're Saying

Teammate John Franklin-Myers, on Thursday, regarding Dobbins facing his old team: "I don't think he needs a speech or any motivational talk this week. I want revenge just as much as he does for him."

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Dobbins delivered a strong 83 yards (7.5 per rush) on his 11 carries against the Chargers, powered by a 41-yard scamper in the third quarter and a 19-yard TD later on the same drive.

In fact, Dobbins accounted for all 66 yards of that possession, supplying 79.5% of his rushing yardage for the game on just those three attempts. The 19-yard score actually came on a passing play, with Bo Nix dropping back and Dobbins making an impressive one-handed catch of a swing pass. But it officially counted as a rush because the throw traveled slightly backward.

His 11 rushes made up 84.6% of the Broncos' total RB attempts, as rookie RJ Harvey claimed just two and managed a mere 2 yards.

Dobbins' 67.3% snap share marked a significant increase vs. the first two weeks:

        • 52.6%
        • 44.8%

Harvey saw no such increase, playing his fewest total snaps (15) to date on a 29% share that lined up with the first two games.

Badie was the big loser, though, playing just two snaps against L.A. after taking the field for 14 (18.4%) in the opener and 13 (22.4%) in Week 2.

Denver notably stuck with Dobbins as the clear backfield leader through the second half despite his four first-half carries collecting minus-4 yards.

Dobbins looks like a solid-to-good RB2 option for at least the near future. He gets a high-upside matchup with the Bengals in Week 4.

        Other Winners & Losers

Although Badie's the bigger Week 3 loser and Harvey's snap share remained constant, Sunday's game wasn't good for the rookie.

A slow start for Dobbins plus Badie not getting snaps would seem to leave room for Denver to up the usage for its second-round pick. Instead, he carried less than in either of the first two games.

Harvey did draw a season-high three targets and caught them all. But he didn't gain any playing time in that area either, remaining clearly behind Dobbins.

Harvey belongs on fantasy benches until something significantly changes for him.
