The league on Monday suspended Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw one game for comments he directed at referee Brad Allen right after Denver's game-winning FG Sunday against the Giants. Greenlaw reportedly plans to appeal and has three days to do so.
What They're Saying
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport: "From the NFL: After the conclusion of the Giants-Broncos game, Greenlaw chased after referee Brad Allen and verbally threatened him as he tried to leave the field."

Here's the video of the incident.
In it, you can clearly see Greenlaw chasing Allen to voice whatever he had to say. I'm not sure what about this he could appeal to change the ruling.
(Side note: I can't help but chuckle at Allen throwing the flag for this post-game infraction. I hope he -- and other officials -- carry yellow flags around in daily life to pitch toward people who steal parking spaces or butt in front of them in line.)
The game marked Greenlaw's season debut (and first game with the Broncos) after he sat out the first six weeks for a nagging quad injury. He played just 21 snaps -- 27.3% of the team total -- in a planned limited role.
That means the impact on Denver's defense should be minor, assuming the suspension holds and the Broncos miss him for their Week 8 home date with the Cowboys.
The suspension would also delay whatever the ramp-up plan is or Greenlaw, who signed a big-money deal in free agency this offseason.
LB Justin Strnad should see his playing time rebound after he dipped to a season-low 53% snap share with Greenlaw's return.
Of course, if Greenlaw manages to convince the league that Allen misheard his complement of the ref's prize rose bushes, then we'll adjust our Week 8 expectations to get Greenlaw back in.
