The Texans defense was dominant in Thursday night's 23-19 win over the Bills. Seven of Buffalo's points came on a Ray Davis kick-return TD. The offense managed just 12 points and 326 total yards -- their second-fewest of the season. QB Josh Allen was under duress all night, taking a season-high eight sacks and getting pressured on 33% of his dropbacks. He finished with 253 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INTs on 24-of-34 passing, plus 20 scoreless rushing yards. It was just Allen's second game of this season and fourth over the last two seasons without a TD.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Houston's defense is the biggest story here. The Texans entered this game first in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs and had yet to surrender a top-12 fantasy finish to the position. They still haven't surrendered a top-12 finish and will remain first in adjusted points allowed.
For Allen, this will be just his third game of the season finishing outside the top 9 QBs in fantasy points. His schedule gets much easier going forward, with his next three games coming against the Steelers, Bengals, and Patriots. All three teams rank bottom-9 in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs.
Allen does have a tough finish to the fantasy season, though, with the Browns' third-ranked QB defense in Week 16 and the Eagles' fourth-ranked unit in Week 17. Those pass rushes are especially worrisome after what we saw on Thursday night.
We'll ultimately bet on Allen delivering useful fantasy numbers in any matchup, though. Barring another ugly outing or two, he remains a must-start in season-long leagues.
Let's just hope the Bills commit to getting him some WR upgrades this offseason.
