Packers TE Luke Musgrave seemed poised for an at least decent offensive role after Tucker Kraft's ACL tear. Musgrave caught three passes in the game Kraft left -- the Week 9 loss to Carolina -- and another three in the loss to Philadelphia. That contest also found him playing a season-high 76.5% of the offensive snaps. But Musgrave has declined to snap shares of just 34.5% and 37.9% the past two weeks. Sunday's win over the Vikings also marked the second straight game in which Musgrave ranked third among TEs in playing time.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The Packers went run-heavy in Week 12, and they clearly don't favor Musgrave as a blocker. John FitzPatrick -- a third-year former sixth-round pick of the Falcons -- looks like the lead TE on that front.
But Week 11 found the Packers dropping back on 60% of offensive snaps. Yet Musgrave played 19 snaps to FitzPatrick's 35 and Josh Whyle's 20. He even trailed FitzPatrick in pass routes each of the past two games.
If Musgrave's not even leading that category among Green Bay tight ends, then there's no reason to keep him on fantasy rosters.
Dynasty Impact
Musgrave still has one more year on his Packers contract, so it looks like he might need an offseason release to have a shot at rehabbing his long-term value.
We'll see if the Packers take any such action, or if there's any signal Musgrave is regaining favor with coaches.
He showed promise in a 34-catch rookie season that started with him playing ahead of classmate Kraft. But Musgrave caught just seven passes all last year and has added a mere 14 through 11 games this season.
