Saints WR Chris Olave entered Sunday questionable to play due to back spasms. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and sat out Thursday’s session before returning on Friday. Ultimately, he suited up against Miami to snag 4 of 7 targets for 47 yards and a score.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Olave wasn't limited in this one, as he led Saints WRs in routes (92%). However, his 7 targets ranked behind Juwan Johnson (9) and Devaughn Vele (8).
Olave nearly had a much better day. Late in the fourth quarter, he drew a deep end zone target. Olave leaped for the ball but misjudged it, resulting in an incompletion.
It was a rare deep shot for Shough, who posted a mere 5.3% deep ball rate in Week 13. He really struggled to deliver in key situations, with the Saints going a combined 4 for 13 on third and fourth downs.
QB play will likely remain a problem for Week 14 at Tampa Bay. But Olave’s volume should continue to supply WR2 value. Let’s just keep a close eye on the back issue that forced some missed practice time.
Other Winners & Losers
Vele came out of nowhere to record 8 grabs, 93 yards, and 1 score. His TD came late in the fourth when Shough broke the pocket and floated a pass to him in the back of the end zone. There's a chance the 6'5 Vele -- who played close to a full-time role -- can supply some spot-start value down the stretch. But the current quality of this passing game suggests there remains a low floor moving forward.
