Drew Lock Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Giants pulled QB Daniel Jones for the fourth quarter of Sunday's lopsided loss to the Eagles. He completed 14 of 21 passes for just 99 yards while taking 7 sacks before that departure. Drew Lock entered to go 3-for-8 with 6 yards passing.

Giants HC Brian Daboll would not commit to QB Daniel Jones (knee) being ready for the start of the 2024 season. He's working his way back from a torn right ACL suffered in early November. Jones said in February that his goal is to be back for the start of training camp, but his progress will be worth watching closely this spring and summer. Daboll added that Jones remains the starter when healthy, despite the addition of QB Drew Lock and the Giants holding the sixth overall pick of next month's draft. "When he gets back he'll be the guy," Daboll said.

The Giants signed QB Drew Lock to a one-year, $5 million contract. Seahawks GM John Schneider said shortly after the deal was announced that he was hoping to bring Lock back but that the Giants promised him a shot at the starting job. "They basically sold him on the opportunity to compete to be the starter," Schneider said. "And he felt like it was the right opportunity. He looked at Baker Mayfield’s opportunity last year and felt that this could be something similar." The New York Post's Paul Schwartz has since countered that idea, reporting that the Giants signed Lock as a strict backup. Schwartz adds that Lock "could get plenty of action with the first-team offense in the spring and summer" as QB Daniel Jones works back from his torn ACL but that the Giants expect Jones to be ready for the start of the season. We'll keep you updated on this situation. Neither Jones nor Lock are worth targeting in early best-ball drafts.

NFL Network reports that Seahawks QB Drew Lock is officially starting tonight against the Eagles. That, of course, doesn't exclude an active Geno Smith from entering at some point if Lock falters. But it looks like Lock is the guy if you've been waiting on a Seahawks QB for your fantasy lineup.

Both ESPN's Brady Henderson and Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski report that Seahawks QB Geno Smith is not on the field for final warmups. Kempski says "full rosters for both teams" are on the field (without Smith). Henderson says only Drew Lock and Sean Mannion are warming up at QB for Seattle. It sounds like Smith won't quite be ready, though that hasn't been made official yet. We'll keep watching for official word.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Seahawks QB Geno Smith (groin) is a "long shot" to play against the Eagles tonight. FOX Sports' Jay Glazer had a similar report just before the 1 pm ET games kicked off on Sunday. Smith hasn't been ruled out yet, but "he's gotta improve a lot from now until game time to be able to play," per Rapoport. It'll be QB Drew Lock under center for Seattle if Smith is out. Lock played well vs. the 49ers last week, throwing for 269 yards, two TDs, and two INTs on a 71% completion rate and 8.7 yards per attempt. But he also has three seasons of underwhelming play for the Broncos on his resume. Lock would certainly add some downside to Seattle's offense tonight.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Seahawks QB Geno Smith aggravated his groin injury and now has an "uphill battle" to play vs. the Eagles on Monday night. It sounds like we should expect QB Drew Lock to start that one. We're updating Seattle projections now.

The Seahawks were forced to start QB Drew Lock against the 49ers in Week 14. That didn’t bother WR Tyler Lockett, though, as led the team with 6 catches and 89 yards. He caught all of his targets. That efficiency was key, as Lock tossed only 31 passes, while the Seahawks fired off just 55 plays. We’ll see if Geno Smith (groin) can suit up next week vs. the Eagles. But there's no denying Lockett's favorable upcoming schedule, which includes the Eagles and the Titans. He looks like a WR3 down the stretch.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith (groin) won't play vs. the 49ers today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Smith suffered what ESPN's Adam Schefter termed a two-week groin injury in Thursday's practice. We'll see if Smith can make it back for next Monday night's game vs. the Eagles. QB Drew Lock starts today for the first time since 2021. He's a significant downgrade from Smith for Seattle's pass catchers.

Update: Smith is officially INACTIVE.

The Seahawks are not expected to decide on QB Geno Smith's status for today's game vs. the 49ers until pregame warmups, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Smith suffered what's considered a two-week groin injury in Thursday's practice, per Schefter. "The Seahawks sounded guarded and uncertain Saturday night after they arrived in San Francisco," Schefter writes. "As tough as Smith is, they know there's a real possibility they could be without him Sunday." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has a similar report, saying Smith's status is "up in the air" and that QB Drew Lock is "preparing to start." We won't get Seattle's inactives until a little after 2:30 pm ET for this 4:05 kickoff. At this point, we're working under the assumption that it'll be Lock at QB today. That's bad news for the Seahawks skill-position players, particularly the WRs.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith (groin) remains a game-time decision for Sunday's meeting with the 49ers, according to insider Jordan Schultz. Smith "will try and play in what's become a hugely important matchup for Seattle," Schultz adds. If he's a true game-time call, though, we won't know if Smith is playing until Seattle's inactives come out a little after 2:30 pm ET. QB Drew Lock will start if Smith can't -- and would be a significant downgrade for WRs D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith (groin) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the 49ers. He injured his groin on Thursday and then did not practice on Friday. HC Pete Carroll was non-committal on Smith’s availability, saying they’ll take the decision up to game time. QB Drew Lock will get the start against San Francisco if Smith is out. That’d be a significant downgrade for the offense.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Monday that there's no structural damage to QB Geno Smith's elbow. Smith is sore, though, and will be evaluated over the next few days, Carroll added. It sounds like Smith is uncertain for Thursday night's game vs. the 49ers, although we'd expect him to push to play in such a big game. We'll keep tabs on his status. QB Drew Lock would be a significant downgrade for the offense if Smith is unable to play.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said after Sunday's loss to the Rams that QB Geno Smith has a bruise on his “tricep, back of his elbow” that “blew up a little bit.” Carroll wouldn’t say whether Smith will be able to play vs. the 49ers on Thanksgiving night. If not, Seattle will turn to QB Drew Lock, who went 2 of 6 for three yards and an INT today. We should get another update on Smith on Monday.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith injured his right elbow near the end of the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Rams and is officially questionable to return. The TV broadcast showed him on the sidelines with a huge wrap on the elbow, so he seems unlikely to be back today. QB Drew Lock has replaced Smith.

Update: Smith returned with a wrap on his elbow for the final drive of the game with Seattle down 17-16.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith injured a knee in the second quarter of Monday night's game vs. the Giants. He headed to the medical tent and eventually back to the locker room on a cart. He's officially questionable to return. We'll update Smith's status when we know more. He's been replaced by QB Drew Lock.

Update: Smith returned for the start of the second half.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll confirmed Tuesday that Geno Smith is more the leader in the QB competition than the winner, because it's ongoing. "Yeah, I think that they understand that, that it's always on," Carroll told The News Tribune. The team planned to start Drew Lock in the 2nd preseason game before COVID knocked him out for it. He then tossed 3 INTs in the finale. "He's disappointed," Carroll said of Lock. "But I know he knows how we think of him, and how we trust he's got a big future." Carroll has sounded at multiple points as though he wants Lock to emerge and expected it to happen. We'll see where this goes in season, for a team that's tied for the 3rd-lowest Vegas projected win total.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll announced after Friday night’s preseason finale that QB age Geno Smith will open the regular season as the starter. We’d bet on Drew Lock also getting some starting time at some point this year, and neither looks especially interesting for fantasy football purposes. But Smith should be the guy if you’re grabbing a Seattle QB later in superflex or 2-QB drafts.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll told 710 ESPN in Seattle on Wednesday that QB Geno Smith will start the preseason finale and that Drew Lock will play "a lot." Lock was reportedly on track to start the previous exhibition before coming down with COVID. Carroll added that Smith starting this contest doesn't necessarily mean he'll start the regular-season opener. But you'd think the coach would want to see Lock open at least 1 preseason contest with the 1st team before handing him the Week 1 reigns. We'll bet on Smith starting the opener. We also wouldn't bet on either guy starting every game this season. We'll see how these final 2 weeks play out.

Seahawks QB Drew Lock returned to practice Sunday after a bout with COVID. He has a shot to start the team's final preseason contest. Lock had been in line to start the previous exhibition and seemed to be pulling ahead of Geno Smith in the competition before this setback. We'll see where this goes now that he's back.
