Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Neither the Broncos nor the Jets had much success on offense in London on Sunday. Denver RB J.K. Dobbins rushed 14 times and was held to 40 yards in Denver's 13-11 win. As a team, the Broncos mustered only 78 rushing yards on 26 attempts. Dobbins' 2.9 yards per carry average and 4.0 PPR points were his lowest output of the season.
Broncos RB Tyler Badie is a healthy scratch for today's game vs. the Jets. He'd been playing a small (but annoying) passing-down role, but Denver will instead go with Jaleel McLaughlin as No. 3 RB for this one. McLaughlin could just step into Badie's role -- or we could see a few extra passing-down snaps for RBs J.K. Dobbins and R.J. Harvey.
Broncos rookie RB RJ Harvey managed just 12 yards on four carries in Sunday's win over the Eagles. He added 3 receptions for 18 yards among three targets. That did mark his third straight game with at least 3 catches, but Harvey's playing time also reverted badly after what seemed like a breakthrough Week 4 vs. Cincinnati.
After averaging 178.3 passing yards in his first three games of the season, QB Bo Nix shredded the depleted Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football to cap off Week 4. Nix threw for 326 yards and 2 TDs and rushed 6 times for 7 yards and another score as the Broncos ended their 2-game losing streak.
A quick check of the Week 3 game stats might make you think that Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins saw his role decrease. He dipped to 11 carries after logging 16 and 14 in the first two contests, and totaled just 12 touches. But the veteran RB actually saw his largest playing-time share to date as Denver left Tyler Badie out of the rotation.
The Broncos registered 40 pass attempts vs. just 22 RB runs in their Week 1 win over the Titans. Fourteen of team's first 17 plays were passes. HC Sean Payton is looking for more balance going forward. “I’ve got to be better there,” Payton said. “It’s one of those day-afters where you look back and say, ‘Alright, let’s look at how we really wanted to start that game and get those two runners going,’ because we think we’ve really improved in that area.”
The Denver Broncos released their depth charts ahead of their Week 1 opener against the Titans, and veteran RB J.K. Dobbins is listed ahead of rookie RJ Harvey.
The Broncos ran RJ Harvey as the lead back in Saturday's preseason opener at San Francisco. The rookie started and played 12 of the 19 first-team snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. That included Harvey taking 12 of the 13 snaps on first or second down. J.K. Dobbins picked up the other one, as well as all of the third-down snaps. Harvey took all seven of the carries and edged Dobbins 2-1 in targets.
Rookie RB RJ Harvey was listed as the RB5 on the Denver Broncos first unofficial depth chart, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Are you wondering how the Denver backfield will sort out for 2025? Of course. We all are. And HC Sean Payton says that even he doesn't know yet. "I'm looking forward to seeing how they play," he told ESPN's Jeff Legwold in late June. "They're going to get opportunities. Audric is going to get opportunities. We've seen Jaleel. Don't try to figure out the club right now. It's way too early." Harvey became the immediate fantasy favorite after the Broncos drafted him in Round 2 and Payton drew comparisons to versatile RBs from his past. But the more recent J.K. Dobbins signing complicates the fantasy outlook.
The Broncos are signing RB J.K. Dobbins. It's a one-year, $5.25 million deal, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. We'll see about the contract details. But, at face value, it's the same exact deal that RB Najee Harris got from the Chargers.
Update: Dobbins is getting $2.065 million guaranteed, according to Pro Football Talk. He has $680,000 in per-game roster bonuses and another $2.5 million available in incentives. Dobbins' deal is much closer to the one Nick Chubb got from Houston than Najee Harris' from the Chargers.
Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Texans. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so it’s safe to assume he won’t be at 100%. RB Gus Edwards is also back from his knee injury for this one and figures to mix in behind Dobbins. RB Kimani Vidal is a healthy scratch, leaving Hassan Haskins as the No. 3 RB.
Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's Wild Card game vs. the Texans. He got in three limited practices this week, so we're expecting him to play. RB Gus Edwards (knee) is off the final injury report after putting in a full practice on Thursday. He looks like the healthier of the two RBs heading into this one. Dobbins remains the better fantasy bet, but this figures to be a split backfield on Saturday.
Chargers RB Gus Edwards (ankle) got in a limited practice on Tuesday. It looks like he has a shot to return for Saturday's Wild Card game vs. the Texans. We'll keep tabs on Edwards' progress over the next few days. He's not an exciting fantasy option in any format but would put a dent in RB J.K. Dobbins' value.
