NFL Network's Jane Slater reports that the Texans don't plan to play WR Nico Collins in today's finale against the Colts.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Bills, HC Demeco Ryans said. Stroud returned to a limited practice on Tuesday and is expected back for Week 13's game against the Colts. But QB Davis Mills will make his third straight start on Thursday. He's gone 2-0 over the last two, completing 61.6% of his passes at 6.6 yards per attempt. Mills remains just a lower-end QB2 -- but he's certainly not bad news for WR Nico Collins, who has posted 7-136-0 and 9-92-1 lines over the last two games.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Titans, HC Demeco Ryans said Thursday. Stroud is struggling to make it back from his second documented concussion. We'll see if he can get cleared for Week 12's meeting with the Bills. QB Davis Mills makes his second straight start this weekend. He was good enough in last week's comeback win over the Jaguars, but his fantasy score was boosted by 45 pass attempts. Don't expect nearly that much volume on Sunday with the Texans 6-point favorites against the Titans. Mills is just a low-end QB2 this week, but WR Nico Collins can safely stay in fantasy lineups.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. Insider Aaron Wilson confirms that Stroud is still experiencing concussion symptoms and that QB Davis Mills is on track to make his second straight start. Mills tallied a 292-2-1 passing line last week, but it came on 45 attempts in a comeback win over the Jaguars. He completed just 60% of his passes at 6.5 yards per attempt. Mills gets another plus matchup vs. the Titans this weekend, but he's highly unlikely to throw it anywhere close to 45 times. He's just a low-end QB2. Mills targeted WR Nico Collins on 33% of his passes last week, though, so Collins should remain in fantasy lineups as a low-end WR1.
Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) won't play vs. the Jaguars this weekend, HC Demeco Ryans said. Stroud didn't practice on Wednesday as he works through the protocol. He should have a good chance to make it back for Week 11, but it'll be QB Davis Mills under center for Houston against the Jaguars on Sunday. Mills completed just 57% of his passes at 4.6 yards per attempt in relief of Stroud last week, although that came against a tough Broncos defense. He was better in 26 starts across 2021 and 2022, posting a 63.6% completion rate and 6.6 yards per attempt. Mills is certainly a downgrade for the Texans offense, but at least WR Nico Collins should remain in fantasy lineups against a bad Jaguars secondary.
Texans WR Nico Collins returned Sunday after missing Week 8 with a concussion. He led the team in targets (11), receptions (7), and receiving yards (75) despite losing C.J. Stroud to a first-half concussion.
Texans WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) are off the final Week 9 injury report. Neither guy should be limited in Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos. Collins catches a break with All-Pro CB Pat Surtain out with a pectoral injury, although Denver’s secondary still boasts plenty of talent. Kirk has operated as Houston’s primary slot receiver when healthy this season but could lose some snaps to rookie WR Jaylin Noel going forward. Try to keep Kirk out of Week 9 fantasy lineups.
Texans WR Nico Collins (concussion) graduated to a full practice on Thursday. He's on track to be cleared for this weekend's game vs. the Broncos. Collins catches a break in that one with All-Pro CB Pat Surtain out with a pectoral injury. WR Christian Kirk (hamstring) was also a full-go on Thursday, setting him up to play against Denver.
Texans WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) got in limited practices on Wednesday. Collins should clear protocol in time for this weekend's game vs. the Broncos, and Kirk seemingly has a chance to return for that one too. Kirk has operated as Houston's primary slot receiver in his three games this season, totaling 16 targets, 10 catches, and 109 yards. Rookie WR Jaylin Noel flashed in Kirk's absence, though, and could steal some snaps. Collins is the only Texans WR that should be in Week 9 fantasy lineups.
Texans insider Aaron Wilson hears that WR Nico Collins is "doing well" in his recovery from his Week 7 concussion and is "trending toward a return" for this Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. HC Demeco Ryans was non-committal on Collins' status for that one on Monday, but players typically don't miss more than one game with concussions. We'll keep you updated on Collins' progress, but he can be penciled into Week 9 fantasy lineups for now.
Texans WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) are out for Sunday’s game vs. the 49ers. Neither guy practiced all week. Collins should have a good chance to make it back for Week 9, but Kirk could miss more time. Their absences this week leave Houston with WRs Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson, and Braxtos Berrios. Higgins and Noel land in WR4 territory in the Week 8 rankings.
Texans WR Nico Collins (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He was concussed just two days ago and remains a long shot to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the 49ers. WR Christian Kirk (hamstring) was also sidelined on Wednesday and looks unlikely to play this weekend. That'll leave Houston with Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson, and Braxton Berrios atop the WR depth chart. Rookies Higgins and Noel are worth stashing in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams but would be tough to trust in Week 8 lineups.
