Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy won't have surgery on his injured shoulder and won't be placed on IR, HC Andy Reid said Wednesday. That means the team expects Worthy to miss fewer than four games.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Sunday morning that the Chiefs were deciding whether to have WR Xavier Worthy rehab his shoulder injury or undergo surgery. The latter option could have cost Worthy the rest of the season. But it sounds like Worthy has opted for the rehab route. “He’s rehabbing and working his shoulder, we’ll see where it goes, day by day," HC Andy Reid said Monday. We'll look for a timeline for Worthy's return, but fantasy owners should hang on to him through this week's waiver run.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder in Friday night's loss to the Chargers and is still seeking a second opinion on how to proceed. It's not yet clear how much time Worthy will miss.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy suffered an apparent right shoulder injury when he collided with TE Travis Kelce on the team's third offensive play of Friday night's opener against the Chargers. Worthy briefly had the shoulder checked on the sidelines before heading back to the locker room with trainers. He's officially questionable to return. His absence leaves Marquise Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Tyquan Thornton as Kansas City's top three WRs.
Update: Worthy has been ruled out.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid believes it will be a challenge for rookie WR Jalen Royals to play Week 1, according to Jesse Newell of The Athletic.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is accepting a six-game suspension and will serve it at the start of this season.
Chiefs’ WR Marquise Brown returned to practice on Sunday and was participating again on Monday, according to Chiefs' senior team reporter Matt McMullen.
The NFL initially proposed a suspension of up to 10 games for Kansas City WR Rashee Rice, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The NFL has yet to hand down any suspension for Chiefs WR Rashee Rice, but the team obviously needs to prepare for that possibility. SI.com's Albert Breer says the team is "expecting a suspension of Rice in the neighborhood of four to six games, and are ready for it." That time span lines up with other rumored expectations. Frankly, though, it seems odd that we still don't have anything official from the league, given that the initial infraction(s?) came early in the offseason before the 2024 campaign.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy returned to practice on Friday. The Chiefs placed him in the concussion protocol earlier this week, but HC Andy Reid said today that Worthy didn't actually suffer a concussion. The second-year pro continues to occupy a top-24 spot in our PPR WR rankings.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy has entered the concussion protocol, per HC Andy Reid. It’s Worthy’s first documented concussion. We’ll let you know when the second-year WR returns to practice.
UPDATE: Worthy managed to avoid a concussion, per Reid. He returned to practice on Friday, August 1.
Chiefs WR Marquise Brown sustained an ankle injury in Tuesday's practice, HC Andy Reid said. No word yet on the severity or a timeline for Brown's return.
Update: Brown "avoided anything serious and is expected to be back on the field as early as tomorrow," according to insider Jordan Schultz.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that a Dallas judge has sentenced Chiefs WR Rashee Rice to five years' probation and 30 days in jail for his role in a multi-car accident on March 30, 2024. It's a surprising turn in the case, given that no trial date had been set for Rice as of early July. This announcement of the sentence seems to signal that a plea bargain was reached. Of course, the big question for fantasy managers is whether and how long we should expect to lose Rice from our lineups now.
Chiefs OC Matt Nagy said a big offseason focus for the team has been improving the downfield passing game. The Chiefs ranked 27th in pass plays of 20+ yards last year and tied for 24th in pass plays of 40+ yards.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy will not face charges after his Friday arrest for alleged assault. The Williamson County (Texas) sheriff's office said it declined to press charges after further investigation that included interviewing a "third-party witness."
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy was arrested on assault charges. The incident occurred on Friday. Authorities declined to press charges after the incident.
Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (rib) has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He's expected to be ready for the team's playoff opener in a couple of weeks. QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Kareem Hunt, and TE Travis Kelce are listed as doubtful and won't play in this meaningless game. Don't expect WRs Xavier Worthy, DeAndre Hopkins, or Marquise Brown to play much, if at all.
