Chris Bell Nears Camp Return in a Thin Dolphins WR Room

Dolphins WR Chris Bell had ACL surgery in December but appears close to returning. HC Jeff Hafley said Bell is "not very far away," per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, and seemed to put the timeline closer to weeks than months. Bell already completed the Dolphins conditioning test and will be running at the start of camp.

The Miami Dolphins selected Missouri WR Kevin Coleman Jr. in Round 5 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Coleman’s college career was a tour. He opened at Jackson State under Deion Sanders, transferred to Louisville for 2023, and then broke out at Mississippi State in 2024. Coleman caught 74 balls for 932 yards and 6 TDs that year – all team highs. His 2.32 yards per route ranked 57th among 260 FBS WRs with 50+ targets. Coleman transferred to Missouri this past year and again led his team in receptions (66) and receiving yards (732). He ranked 18th in targets per route (0.26) and 26th in yards per route (2.23) among the 49 WRs invited to this year’s Combine. Coleman goes just 5’10, 179 pounds and looks like a slot-only player in the NFL. He logged 92% of his snaps inside in college and registered a career 9.5-yard average target depth. That leaves him with a relatively unexciting fantasy ceiling.

The Miami Dolphins selected Texas Tech WR Caleb Douglas in Round 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Douglas boasts an enticing combination of size and athleticism. He’s 6’4, 206 pounds with a 4.39-second 40 time, registering a 9.50 Relative Athletic Score. Those gifts never resulted in big college production, though. Douglas totaled just 21 catches across his freshman and sophomore seasons at Florida before transferring to Texas Tech. He finished second on the team in catches (60), receiving yards (877), and TDs (6) in 2024 but averaged a middling 2.00 yards per route. Douglas’ production and efficiency declined this past year. He posted a 54-846-7 line on 1.77 yards per route – 35th among the 49 WRs invited to the Combine. Douglas is a legit vertical threat and flashes plus ball skills. But his hands are inconsistent and can get pushed around by physical CBs. There’s enough here to keep Douglas on the fantasy radar, but he’s a long shot to emerge as more than a spike-week, best-ball target.
