49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe, shoulder) is a "long shot" to play vs. the Saints this weekend, HC Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday. Shanahan added that Purdy could be looking at a multi-week absence. Niners RB Christian McCaffrey might have been questionable entering the weekend, but you wouldn't have known it by the way the team used him in the victory over Seattle. McCaffrey rushed 22 times and caught nine of 10 targets Sunday. He led his nearest teammates by three targets and five catches. That workload helped prop up an inefficient day on the ground, where McCaffrey managed a mere 3.1 yards per carry. His 73 receiving yards marked a solid 8.1-yard average. McCaffrey wound up with the third-best PPR score among RBs for the week (pending Monday night) even without scoring a TD.
