ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that doctors will not clear Jets QB Mike White for contact in time for Sunday's game with the Lions. That means QB Zach Wilson will return to the lineup. White twice left last Sunday's loss at Buffalo after taking shots to the midsection, but he returned each time. White said this week he was dealing with "general soreness," but he clearly sustained a more significant injury than he has conceded (likely to his ribs). So Wilson will return for the 1st time since his 9-for-22, 77-yard passing performance against the Patriots in Week 11. For the year, Wilson is averaging just 182.7 passing yards per game. White's 3 starts supplied 317.3 yards per game, at 0.6 more yards per pass attempt. The switch back is clearly bad news for Jets pass-catchers such as Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore and Tyler Conklin. Update: HC Robert Saleh has confirmed that White is out for Sunday's game vs. the Lions and that Wilson will start.
