Titans continue to beef up passing game, add Tyler Boyd

The Titans signed WR Tyler Boyd to a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Boyd is reuniting with new Titans HC Brian Callahan, who spent the past five seasons with Boyd in Cincinnati. Boyd went for a career-high 1,046 yards in Callahan's first season as Bengals OC back in 2019, but his yardage has declined each year since, bottoming out at 667 last year. Boyd's Pro Football Focus receiving grade has also been in decline. He ranked 63rd among 80 qualifiers last year.

Boyd is certainly not a difference-maker, but he's another investment in the passing game for a Titans team that already added WR Calvin Ridley this offseason. Boyd figures to be Tennessee's clear No. 3 WR behind Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins, so he'll need this passing game to really take off in order to be a fantasy factor.

        Other Winners & Losers

Boyd's addition is more good news for QB Will Levis. Between a three-WR set of Hopkins, Ridley, and Boyd -- and the arrival of pass-leaning play-caller Brian Callahan -- Levis has every opportunity to emerge as at least a solid QB2 for dynasty squads this season.

Hopkins and Ridley's fantasy values are not impacted by the Boyd signing. There's still room for both guys to deliver at least WR3 value -- with upside for more.

TE Chig Okonkwo, though, figures to struggle finding enough volume to be a reliable weekly fantasy starter. Consider him just a low-end TE2 for best ball.

WR Treylon Burks, meanwhile, doesn't appear to have a future under this new Titans staff. We'll see if he's traded ahead of Week 1. Burks has just 665 receiving yards through two NFL seasons. But he's dealt with injuries and a generally poor Titans passing game. Fantasy owners shouldn't throw in the towel on Burks just yet. A move out of Tennessee can only help his redraft and dynasty value.
