Tyler Conklin Set to Benefit from Aaron Rodgers Return

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic highlights Jets TE Tyler Conklin as a "notable standout" in the team's offseason program. "He made highlight reel catches all spring," Rosenblatt writes. "If Rodgers can stay healthy, Conklin is in line for a big season."

        What They're Saying

New York Post's Brian Costello earlier in June: "There are plenty of Jets players who should benefit from the return of a healthy Aaron Rodgers, but one who has jumped out at OTAs is tight end Tyler Conklin."

Conklin on hearing analysts call TE a position of need for the Jets this offseason: "It's obviously motivation to go out there and make people change that thought process."

        2024 Fantasy Football Impact

There's certainly room for Conklin to draw significant target share.

Last year's Jets ranked 12th in the league in TE target share, with Conklin more than 10 percentage points ahead of TE teammate. Only he and WR Garrett Wilson reached 10% target share among Jets, and Conklin's 87 targets ranked 13th among NFL TEs.

This year's Jets added WR Mike Williams and drafted third-round WR Malachi Corley. But Corley might be headed for limited 2024 impact. And the team moved on from No. 2 TE C.J. Uzomah.

Conklin's 0 TDs crushed his 2023 fantasy value. But he ranked 12th in total PPR points minus TDs, and 16th in points per game without TDs.

Take all that, add Rodgers, and factor in Conklin's TE24 ADP, and it's pretty easy to see upside vs. his draft cost.

        Dynasty Impact

The TE looks far less interesting for the longer term. He heads into his age-29 season with no contract beyond this year. His QB turns 41 in December.

It's tough to know right now what Conklin or his situation will look like for 2025. And he certainly doesn't have enough production behind him to just be worth blindly betting on.

That said, you're not getting much (anything?) for him on the dynasty market. So maybe he'll present some in-season trade value. Otherwise, take what the vet gives you this year and then figure it out.

        Other Winners & Losers

If Conklin becomes/remains a reliable target for Rodgers, he could pair nicely with Wilson to give the QB regular options at multiple levels.

The rest of the pass-catching corps has some sorting/proving to do through the summer.

        Projected ADP Movement

It's probably going to take quite a bit more summer buzz to give Conklin any significant ADP boost.

Barring that significant shift, feel free to work him into your drafting across 2024 formats. He's especially attractive as a late best ball option.
