The Titans have agreed to a one-year contract with S Jamal Adams, according to multiple sources. Adams spent the past four seasons with the Seahawks, who released him earlier this offseason.
What They're Saying
ESPN's Turron Davenport: "Tennessee currently has Amani Hooker and Elijah Molden listed as its starting safeties. Adams will compete for one of the starting spots when camp opens July 23."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
It's a good landing spot for Adams' path to a starting spot.
Hooker has been in the lineup since late in 2020 but missed 18 games over the past three seasons.
Molden has moved around the secondary, seeing time primarily at SS and slot CB. He spent last year at safety but started only eight of his 15 games.
Hooker should have a spot locked up. He's still working on a three-year extension he signed in September 2022, which included $17 million guaranteed. That makes him the top IDP bet.
Adams figures to battle Molden for the other spot -- in a secondary that might just find room for all three.
Rankings Movement
Hooker and Molden already sit low in our DB rankings. Don't expect any significant changes until/unless we get clarity on Adams taking over a spot.
Injury History: New Developments & Historical Context
It's worth remembering that Adams tore his left quad early in 2022. That wiped out the rest of 2022 and impacted him into 2023 -- likely throughout the year.
From ESPN: "Upon his return from the quad injury, Adams said he was in such a dark place that he briefly considered retirement."
We'll see what he's got left this summer.
