Buccaneers DE Yaya Diaby was carted off the field with an apparent left ankle injury. Diaby had been gaining hype as the best player overall for the Buccaneers so far in training camp and a key pass rusher to their defensive strategy.
Diaby got up very gingerly on his left ankle early in practice. As a precaution, the Buccaneers brought out the cart to keep him off of the injury.
X-Rays on his ankle were normal and he will undergo an MRI later today, but there is hope that Diaby missed a serious injury.
Diaby drew rave reviews as a much improved player looking like a potential monster for the Buccaneers defense this year.
This potentially could be a dent in the Buccaneers sack totals and defensive potential as one of the most important pieces to their plan this season.
We will keep an eye on the details on the injury and how long Diaby may be out. Expect an update soon.
Diaby is only 25-years old and has had a rising dynasty ADP in big play scoring IDP leagues.
Rookie DE Chris Braswell may be thrust into more work than the Buccaneers want. The second-round pick is the direct back-up to Diaby on the current depth chart.
The Buccaneers may find out very early if Braswell has starter potential or if is more of a rotational player.
