DE Matthew Judon has been traded from the New England Patriots to the Atlanta Falcons for a third round pick. At age 31, Judon has been an effective pass rusher and solid IDP player throughout his career. He will likely start at an OLB position over 2022 second round pick Arnold Ebiketie.
Judon was moved to the pass rush needy Falcons as a pass rush specialist who should be a stand up starter in Atlanta.
The Falcons have the longest streak in the NFL without a player having 10+ sacks in a season (Vic Beasley in 2016 was their last player with double digit sacks).
Over the past three seasons, Judon has amassed 32 sacks for the Patriots. He was shut down last season after tearing his bicep in Week 4.
A third round pick is a pretty steep price to pay for a 31-year old pass rush, but Judon's penchant for double digit sack totals when healthy should help the Falcons defense hit new heights.
He was a solid depth pick in IDP leagues, especially ones that give big points for sacks. He may not play quite as many snaps for the Falcons as they could rotate in some of their young pass rushers, but the opportunities should remain.
Continue to invest in Judon for his sack spike weeks.
