The Chiefs are releasing RB Deneric Prince, according to The Kansas City Star's Sam McDowell. Prince made noise early in camp but faded for the second straight year.

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Prince's release means the Chiefs are keeping Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Carson Steele as the No. 2 and 3 RBs behind Isiah Pacheco.

Steele was a star of preseason action, but Edwards-Helaire figures to enter the season second on the depth chart. A Pacheco injury would likely turn the Chiefs backfield into a committee, so neither Edwards-Helaire nor Steele is a priority fantasy handcuff.
