Bears WR Rome Odunze sustained an MCL sprain in Sunday's win over the Titans. He's now week-to-week, according to multiple reports.
That designation generally means at least one missed game for a player. Beyond that, MCL sprains feature a range of severity and return timelines.
That the team is calling him "week-to-week" instead of an IR candidate suggests this isn't an overly serious injury. That makes Odunze worth keeping on your roster in most 12-team leagues (and certainly leagues larger than that).
Odunze edged Keenan Allen for the second-most playing time in the opener among Bears wideouts, though his 4 targets trailed well behind Allen's 11.
The veteran joins D.J. Moore in an even clearer top 2 at the position for however long Odunze remains out.
TEs Gerald Everett and Cole Kmet could see some role growth while Odunze sits as well. Either will have to prove he's a useful fantasy asset before you should consider him -- in most formats.
No. 4 WR DeAndre Carter has made little impact since arriving in the league in 2018. And the 31-year-old played ahead of 2023 rookie Tyler Scott in Week 1.
RB D'Andre Swift also figures to get more than the 1 target he drew in the opener vs. Tennessee.
