Raheem Mostert Out for Week 2

Raheem Mostert Headshot

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel announced Wednesday that RB Raheem Mostert will miss Thursday night's game against the Bills because of a chest injury. That leaves the backfield to De'Von Achane (if he plays) and Jeff Wilson Jr. -- and likely means Miami will activate rookie RB Jaylen Wright.

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Mostert seems to have sustained his injury late in the win over Jacksonville. He didn't clearly leave that game because of it, but Wilson led the team in fourth-quarter carries for that contest.

Achane's ankle situation further muddles the outlook for the Thursday night game at Buffalo. Even if he's active, he seems likely to get less run than usual -- especially on the short turnaround from Week 1.

The big question will be who gets more playing time between Wilson and Wright, assuming the rookie makes the active roster for Week 2. It made sense to go inactive with the young guy over the vet for his first NFL game. But it also might make sense to find opportunities for the more explosive Wright when he's active.

Unless we get further clarity from McDaniel heading in (and don't bet on that), it'll be tough to start any Miami RB beyond Achane outside of deep leagues.

Other Winners & Losers

Expect Miami to throw the ball plenty against Buffalo. The Dolphins wound up passing on about 63% of offensive plays against Jacksonville yet passed at a rate under expectation for that game.

Now they'll face a Bills secondary that had to replace both safeties from last year and will miss slot CB Taron Johnson for this game.

Look for plenty of targets to the top 2 Miami wideouts in Week 2.

Waiver Wire Targets

Stash Wright and Wilson where it makes sense. Look for more details in our Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups.
