Bengals QB Joe Burrow entered Sunday’s game without WR Tee Higgins (hamstring). But despite a tough matchup at Kansas City, the 27-year-old managed 258 yards, 2 TDs, and 0 INTs.
What They're Saying
Here's HC Zac Taylor after a tough loss.
“I’m really proud of the way we fought,” Taylor said. “Disappointed we lost, it’s an emotional loss for us. But at that same time, I like where our team’s mental state is at right now and how we fought on the road against a really good opponent.”
Burrow said he thought he played "fast and decisive" against Kansas City. Per The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr., Burrow also said it's the best he's felt physically since his 2023 wrist injury.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
The Chiefs made it a clear point to take away Ja’Marr Chase. So Burrow really leaned on his TEs, funneling 14 receptions (on 16 targets) to the position.
Burrow’s TDs both went to Andrei Iosivas on end zone balls. But he had several other end zone passes – to Mike Gesicki, Ja’Marr Chase, and Trenton Irwin – fall incomplete.
Overall, its a step in the right direction for Burrow, who exited Week 1 with more questions than answers.
Week 3 might bring the return of Tee Higgins, although we’ll track his practice status closely.
If Higgins suits up, Burrow’s QB1 floor will rise for a home matchup with Washington. The Commanders still project as one of the most favorable QB matchups this season.
