Raiders Edge Maxx Crosby revealed after Sunday's loss to the Panthers that he's playing through a significant ankle injury. He was officially questionable for the game but expected to play -- and did.
What They're Saying
Crosby: "It's a high ankle. It sucks. It's unfortunate. I mean, I hurt it literally the second to last play in Baltimore. Just part of the game, you know. Every time I go out there I’m going to try and be out there with my teammates. If I’m 100% or 50% it doesn’t affect if I’m going to go out there.”
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Crosby's 82% playing time against Carolina would have been a busy night for just about any other D-lineman. But it marked a dip from the 100% snap shares he played each of the first two games.
It's tough to know how much the injury affected Crosby's performance, but he logged no tackles for loss or QB hits for the first time this season -- after tallying five of each through the first two weeks.
Crosby put in limited practices all last week, and HC Antonio Pierce said Friday he expected his star defender to play. All of that seemed to downplay the injury.
We'll see about Crosby's practice participation this week -- and of course keep watching his in-game production.
Other Winners & Losers
The Raiders' defense has also lost two starters for the season.
S Marcus Epps suffered an ACL tear against the Panthers. Edge Malcolm Koonce is having season-ending knee surgery.
Altogether, these issues limit the upside of a team defense that hasn't been attractive for fantasy use anyway.
