Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth caught five of seven targets for 57 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts, ranking second on the team in each of those categories. He also snagged Pittsburgh's only TD pass from 8 yards out late in the fourth quarter. It was Freiermuth's first TD since Week 3 of last season.
Despite averaging just 5 targets per game so far, Freiermuth has caught at least four passes every week. He's working on an 85% catch rate with QB Justin Fields.
That's almost certain to come down. But Pittsburgh's also likely to increase passing volume with more time spent playing from behind.
Fields attempted a season-high 34 passes -- and took a season-high 4 sacks -- in Sunday's loss, up from 32, 20, and 23 attempts in the three victories.
Sunday marked the first time this season that Freiermuth reached 40 yards in a game, so he's certainly not a good bet to win you many (if any) fantasy matchups. But he has been a helpful fantasy asset despite Pittsburgh's run-heavy offense and retread starting QB.
Expect Freiermuth to hover around low-starter territory for 10-12 leagues across the next four games, ahead of a Week 9 bye.
Matchups with the Cowboys, Raiders, Jets, and Giants hold nothing scary for the TE. That Week 7 spot against the Jets could particularly favor Freiermuth's use by challenging WR George Pickens in coverage.
A loaded supporting cast, improved QB play, and offensive continuity set the stage for Atlanta to deliver serious fantasy value in 2025.
