Seahawks TE Noah Fant rebounded in the wrong direction Monday night against the Lions. After 6 receptions for 60 yards in the Week 3 win over the Dolphins, he drew just 2 targets in the loss at Detroit. That's especially disappointing when you realize that QB Geno Smith attempted 56 passes on the night. Fellow TEs A.J. Barner and Pharaoh Brown matched Fant's 2 targets, and Barner caught Smith's lone TD pass in the game.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Fant ran a route on just 59% of Seattle's dropbacks for the game. That actually marked a slight improvement vs. Week 3, but Fant's playing time has been down the past two games vs. the first two.
In fact, his role the past two games has fallen in line with how he was being used in last year's rotation, under previous OC Shane Waldron.
A new two-year, $21 million contract under the new coaching staff seemed to indicate a stronger role for Fant. But the season's first month has given us no reason to believe he'll help our fantasy teams.
Other Winners & Losers
Barner's Week 4 contribution doesn't seem like a blip.
"AJ's grown up in the past two weeks," Smith said after the Detroit game. "You can see his confidence growing, and it was great for him to get his first touchdown tonight. I think he's going to continue to excel and continue to get better. He's a guy that we're going to count on."
The broadcast crew also relayed during the game that Seahawks coaches said they expect Barner to become a factor this year.
The fourth-round rookie will have trouble carving out a meaningful role for redraft use. But he's well worth a dynasty stash.
