Texans WR Tank Dell caught all four of his targets for 38 yards in Sunday's win over the Bills. He also carried once for a loss of five yards. The quiet outing was even more disappointing considering WR Nico Collins missed the entire second half with a hamstring injury. Dell ranked just fourth on the Texans in targets with a 10.5% share.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Dell's receiving lines in four games this season:
His playing time has been fine: A 75+% route rate in all four games, including 86% vs. the Bills. But Dell has averaged just 5.3 targets per game on a 14% share. And his average target depth is down about three yards.
On top of that, Dell's efficiency has sunk. He caught 63% of his targets and averaged 9.5 yards per target last year. Those marks are down to 62% and 6.5 this season.
Dell has looked fine to our eyes, but it's possible that he's still not quite at 100% after breaking his fibula last December and being shot in April.
Considering his playing time and QB, Dell will likely start producing more going forward. But he'll need to boost that target share if he's going to be more than a volatile WR3.
He gets positive matchups the next three weeks vs. the Patriots, Packers, and Colts.
