The New York Jets have fired Head Coach Robert Saleh after the Jets started with a 2-3 record. They are coming off a 23-17 loss to the Vikings in the UK. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich is being named the interim head coach and will coach the team on Monday when they face off against the Buffalo Bills.
What They're Saying
Adam Schefter of ESPN: "Jets informed Robert Saleh of their decision minutes ago. There will be a new head coach for Monday night’s game vs. Buffalo."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Saleh ends his tenure with a 20-36 record as the Jets Head Coach.
It is curious timing to fire a coach so early in the season when the move could have been made in the offseason. With Ulbrich stepping in as the interim, OC Nathaniel Hackett will likely stay on board as well to placate QB Aaron Rodgers.
The Jets offense has been the major issue, however, only reaching 270 yards once in their five games so far. Saleh and his defensive background was likely fairly hands off on the offensive side.
There were some early sideline tensions with Rodgers that may have contributed to the early firing, but we will have to wait for word. Hopefully some offensive changes are made to give a kickstart to RB Breece Hall and WR Garret Wilson.
