Saints CB Paulson Adebo fractured his right femur in Thursday night's loss to the Broncos. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Adebo already had surgery early Friday morning and is looking at a 4-5 month recovery timeline. Adebo is set to hit unrestricted free agency in March.
The Saints lost one starting outside CB for the season and also watched CB Marshon Lattimore leave the Denver game with a hamstring injury.
Playing on Thursday night gives them an extended window ahead of their Week 8 visit to the Chargers. And facing one of the league's most run-heavy offenses will help. But the secondary's obviously in for some challenges.
Slot CB Alontae Taylor led the group in playing time against the Broncos and figures to see more time going forward. He shifted outside more at times last season when Lattimore was out.
Second-round rookie CB Kool-Aid McKinstry also played his second-highest snap share of the season Thursday night. He figures to run among the top 3 New Orleans CBs going forward. We'll see, though, if he takes over an outside starting gig or enters for sub packages when Taylor shifts inside.
Either way, expect Taylor to be the better IDP performer. McKinstry could see plenty of targets, though, if playing opposite a healthy Lattimore.
If the rookie becomes a full-timer over the next two games, he could be an interesting deep-league option against the Falcons in Week 10.
