Add a league for Mock Drafting, Draft War Room & In-season sync
The Bengals are trading a seventh-round pick to the Bears for RB Khalil Herbert. It's much-needed depth for a Cincinnati squad that just lost RB Zack Moss to a neck injury. He's out "indefinitely," according to HC Zac Taylor.
Update: Moss is expected to miss the rest of the regular season, according to NFL Network.
Herbert has been an efficient runner throughout his career, sporting a 4.8 yards-per-carry average. But he never earned a consistent role in Chicago across multiple coaching staffs.
Herbert should quickly ascend to the No. 2 spot on the RB depth chart in Cincinnati. Despite Moss' absence last week, the Bengals didn't give a single touch to RB Trayveon Williams.
Moss averaged 9.3 carries and 3.4 targets across his eight games this season -- although that dropped to 6.5 carries and 3.0 targets over his last four. Herbert has never been much of a factor in the passing game, so don't expect him to take much of Moss' receiving work. But he could certainly take the rushing role.
That, of course, wouldn't be enough to make Herbert a standalone fantasy option. So consider him a Brown handcuff for now. He's worth grabbing in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams.
Herbert hadn't recorded a touch for the Bears since Week 3, so there's no impact to that backfield.
