Panthers HC Dave Canales said Monday that he "fully expect(s)" rookie RB Jonathon Brooks to play this week against the Chiefs. RB Miles Sanders, meanwhile, is expected to miss the game. He's dealing with foot and ankle injuries.
Carolina activated Brooks from the PUP list ahead of the Week 10 win over the Giants in Germany but left him inactive for that game.
Canales did add that they "still need to go through the week of work" to determine Brooks' Week 12 status. But we're betting the rookie finally makes his debut. How much work he'll get likely won't be clear until the game, though.
Sanders' absence would free up some playing time. He ranged from 23% snap share to 42% across the first nine games before leaving the Giants win early. Sanders also exceeded 4 touches just once over the past six contests, though.
Don't expect Brooks to make a fantasy impact right away, especially against a Chiefs D that's been tough on RB scoring.
Brooks is fine to stash on redraft rosters but figures to clearly trail Chuba Hubbard in work after Hubbard's weighty contract extension.
