Vikings RB Aaron Jones carried just five times for 22 yards and added 3 receptions for a mere 6 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Fortunately, his final catch went for a 5-yard, game-winning TD to save an otherwise brutal fantasy line.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Jones saw his playing time dip to match his downturn from weeks 10 and 11.
According to Pro Football Focus, Jones played 52.8% of the offensive snaps against the Cardinals. That followed shares of 79%, 53%, and 52% the previous three weeks.
Jones had topped 70% playing time in three straight games before that previous lull, so it's not clear exactly where Minnesota wants him in snap share.
Jones fumbled twice in the first quarter of this game, though, losing the second. He stayed in after the first (which Minnesota recovered). But the Vikings worked Cam Akers and Ty Chandler in for a series apiece after the second fumble.
That certainly might have affected Jones' playing time for the game. And he jumped back in for the first two possessions of the second half.
Jones' remaining schedule looks fairly neutral for RB scoring, and I wouldn't worry about Jones Akers or Chandler actually challenging his role. Just don't treat Jones as a safe weekly bet for workhorse use.
